About
Blue Mind Magazine aims to explain the science behind surfing in language that is accessible to all surfers.
About Blue Mind
Blue Mind Magazine is a publication dedicated to surf science. We were born from the belief that understanding what happens in our body and mind while surfing can transform how we experience the ocean. Here you'll find current scientific research, presented clearly and accessibly, so every surfer can benefit from knowledge that was once reserved only for researchers and healthcare professionals.
Our Mission
We want to democratize scientific knowledge about surfing. Blue Mind Magazine bridges the gap between academic research and the surfing community, translating complex studies on biomechanics, physiology, psychology, and surf medicine into practical, applicable content. Our goal is simple: to help you surf more, surf better, and surf for more years.

“Where surf and science meet.”

Pedro Seixas
PT, PhD
Pedro has been a Physiotherapist for over 20 years, he is a university professor with a PhD in Human Movement/Sports Training, and serves as the Scientific Coordinator of Surfing Medicine International (SMI). Above all, he is deeply passionate about surfing, which led him to create Blue Mind Magazine as a platform that brings together his two greatest passions: science and surfing.
Surfing Medicine International
SMI is a non-profit organization founded by medical doctors and surfers dedicated to the science of surfing medicine. They develop research, injury prevention programs, and educational platforms to make surfing safer and recognize surfers as key bystander rescuers.
Our vision is to create a global community where surf and science come together to improve lives and deepen our understanding of the ocean's impact on human health.
